Montserrat is a Caribbean island—specifically in the Leeward Islands, which is part of the chain known as the Lesser Antilles, in the former British West Indies. It is a British Overseas Territory. Montserrat measures approximately 16 km in length and 11 km in width, with approximately 40 km of coastline. The Isle of Man is a self-governing British Crown dependency in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who holds the title of Lord of Mann and is represented by a Lieutenant Governor. The island has been inhabited since before 6500 BC. The Isle of Man parliament, Tynwald, became in 1881 the first national legislative body in the world to give women the right to vote in a general election, but this excluded married women. In 2016, the Isle of Man was the first whole nation to be awarded biosphere reserve status by UNESCO.
This beautiful stamp on postcard is from set Coastal Birds of the Isle of Man, issued on 29.06.2017.
Mileva Marić Einstein was a Serbian mathematician. She was the only woman among Albert Einstein's fellow students at Zürich's Polytechnic and was the second woman to finish a full program of study at the Department of Mathematics and Physics. Marić and Einstein were lovers and had a daughter Lieserl in 1902; the daughter died in 1903 before their marriage later that year. They later had two sons, Hans Albert and Eduard.
The question whether (and if so, to what extent) Marić contributed to Einstein's early work, and to the Annus Mirabilis Papers in particular, is the subject of debate. Many professional historians of physics argue that she made no significant scientific contribution, while others suggest that she was a supportive companion in science and may have helped him materially in his research.
This stamps are reprinted several times, and these are from 06.02.2017.
I received Christmas cover with beautiful red cancellation from city with beautiful name - Red Deer. The Cree peoples called the river on which Red Deer stands Waskasoo Seepee, which translates to "Elk River". However, British traders translated the name as "Red Deer River", since they mistakenly thought elk were European red deer. Later, the settlers of the area named their community after the river. Stamp is from Christmas set issued on 01.11.2016.
Inside was this beautiful Peanuts card, and this was sent by man who found online. So, Deux, if you read this, I sent you a cover yesterday ;)
